Frankenstein's monster is a representation for Marx's concept of a disgruntled worker, who feels very much the same as the Monster. Marx's worker is miserable in his condition, and angry. He becomes a materialism of the working class "machine" working too close to the surface. Despite it having been created to be beautiful, both the monster and the working class are "hideous" to their creators.
