Pop Culture
As Frankenstein is such an iconic legend, it makes sense that it would put up all throughout pop culture. Frankenstein, despite its age, has remained prominent in pop culture to this day. Its biggest influence has been in movies, beginning in its first film in 1931. The many Frankenstein films have popularized the novel, but also led to some misconceptions. Many films have been called "Frankenstein" or some other variation including that name, and put an iconic image of the monster on the poster alongside the title. This has led to many people confusing Victor Frankenstein, the doctor and the monster's creator, with the monster himself. Movies have contributed to Frankenstein's longevity. Frankenstein is alive in other formats as well, such as references in a number of TV shows. Also, the monster has appeared in Marvel comics as the foe antagonist.
